Kavya not an accused so far, says prosecution

Actor Kavya Madhavan has not been made an accused in the case so far, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) informed the Kerala High Court on Monday.

KOCHI: Actor Kavya Madhavan has not been made an accused in the case so far, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) informed the Kerala High Court on Monday. The prosecution made the submission on the anticipatory bail petition of Kavya.

Asked whether the petitioner is an accused, senior government pleader Suman Chakravarthy said, as of now, she is not an accused in the case. On court’s query if she is a witness, the prosecution said a decision whether to make her a witness has not been taken. Following the submission, the court asked the prosecution to file a statement on September 25. According to Kavya, the investigation agency was harassing her by permitting Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case, to make disclosures to media while being escorted to courts. The petition stated Kavya has been questioned by the agency on various occasions and various visits were made by the agency to her matrimonial house at Aluva and to her parents home at Vennala. During these visits and questioning, the petitioner had disclosed whatever is within her knowledge.

There is no justification for implicating and arresting the petitioner in this case other than to satisfy a powerful group behind this planned drama, the plea said.Kavya said her husband Dileep has been falsely implicated in the case.

HC seeks Suni’s antecedents

Kochi:The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the police to apprise the court of the antecedents of Pulsar Suni, including his criminal activities. The court issued the order on the bail plea of Suni, the prime accused in the actress assault case. According to him, the investigation was completed in the case and the chargesheet was filed on April 17. Hence, the detention of the accused is unwarranted, the pleas stated. The petition further said he was questioned in jail illegally after the chargesheet was filed in the case. The court also asked the police to explain the nature and gravity of the offence alleged against Pulsar Suni. The court also sought the details of the evidence and other materials submitted against Suni in the Magistrate Court.  The court directed the police to submit the details of the contacts made by Suni from the date of the incident till his arrest. The court posted the hearing of the case to September 25.
