Police raid SDPI, Popular Front offices and houses of party workers: 68 arrested

According to the city police, 156 houses and 4 offices were inspected in its limit. In the inspection at Chavakkad, 8 books and 2 CDS containing provocative messages were seized.

THRISSUR: Following the Abhimanyu murder in Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, the police raided the offices of SDPI and Popular Front, along with the houses of the two party workers.

During the raids conducted in the past couple of days, the police arrested 68 SDPI and Popular Front activists.

Following the special instruction by DGP Loknath Behera, the city and rural police led by the respective station Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors raided the houses and offices.

According to the city police, 156 houses and 4 offices were inspected in its limit. In the inspection at Chavakkad, 8 books and 2 CDS containing provocative messages were seized. As many as 10 people were arrested.

After the protest march by the SDPI in Thrissur on Thursday 41 others were also arrested.

The city police said the raids would continue in the coastal region. During the raid, 11 criminals who were charged with attempt to murder and murder were also caught and they were charged with IPC Section 107 and KAPA Act.

City police commissioner Yathish Chandra G H directed all the station house officers to take into prevention custody who were charged with different cases.

The police will also examine the bank transactions, travel chart, etc. of the SDPI and Popular Front leaders who were arrested in the raid.

The hawala transactions that have been in practice as a parallel economy, especially throughout the coastal regions, would also be investigated. The public can also inform such terrorist activities if present in any of the regions.
