THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:In another tweet, Shashi Tharoor said, “We have all been warned. The BJP’s answer to the simple question ‘have you given up the dream of a Hindu Rashtra?’ is apparently vandalism and violence. That is the face they have shown in Thiruvananthapuram today. Most Hindus will say these Sanghi goondas do not represent us.”

The Congress MP, during a private function here recently, had criticised the BJP and said if the party is voted to power again at the Centre in 2019, they will convert India to ‘Hindu Pakistan’. He went on to say the BJP would attempt to rewrite the Constitution resulting in the removal of the equality enjoyed by the minorities.

The comment courted controversy, with the BJP leaders lambasting Tharoor for his comment. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had assailed it as one “against democracy and Hindus”.While the Congress central leadership refused to fully endorse Tharoor’s ‘Hindu Pakistan’ jibe, the state unit offered him unconditional support.

Meanwhile, Tharoor wrote to City Police Commissioner P Prakash seeking more protection to his office and requested immediate action against the attackers.Based on this, the Cantonment police registered cases against eight Yuva Morcha workers. Congress workers protested against the attack.

Yuva Morcha wants apology

T’Puram: Yuva Morcha has come out strongly against Shashi Tharoor and said he should apologise for his ‘Hindu Pakistan’ remark. Yuva Morcha said Tharoor was trying to garner a few votes by trying to divide people in comparing India to Pakistan which is a terror state.
