KOZHIKODE: Expressing gratitude to the SFI for its long fight for justice for her son Jishnu Pranoy, Mahija Ashokan, mother of the deceased engineering student of Pambadi Nehru College, wrote an emotional letter in solidarity with the SFI state conference in Kollam. The letter which was read in the state conference of the SFI the other day, mentions about Jishnu’s love and affection towards SFI. The one page letter starts with the touching words ‘I am the mother of your Jishnu Pranoy. Now I am your mother too.’

“When I knew the state meet of SFI, my son’s dearest organisation, will be taking place in Kollam, I  decided to write this letter. I am sure, he (Jishnu) will definitely be happy about this letter. Because, he loved our white flag and the red star more than anything else. His study room was decorated with pictures of Che Guevara and slogans of SFI,” said the letter.

Mahija thanked SFI workers for their endless struggle against commercialisation of education. “When campuses have turned to a centre of assassination, you (SFI) have come forward to take over the torch lit by my son Jishnu to fight against the social injustice, said Mahija in her letter.“Ever since, no mother had to say thanks to her children for their service. But, here I want to convey my gratitude to Vijin (SFI state secretary) and Jaick (state president) who led the fight for Jishnu Pranoy,” said Mahija. The letter concluded with thanks to each SFI worker who fought for justice for Jishnu. The letter that appeared on the Facebook page of SFI leaders later went viral on social media.
