Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to commission phase-II of Jatayu Earth Centre on Chingam 1

Chief Minister will inaugurate the world’s largest bird sculpture, completely Swiss made hi-tech cable car service, adventure park and helicopter local flying service.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will commission the Jatayu Earth’s Centre second phase on August 17, informed Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. Chief Minister will inaugurate the world’s largest bird sculpture, completely Swiss made hi-tech cable car service, adventure park and helicopter local flying service. Helicopter local flying service is offered for the very first time in the state as part of a tourism project. All the permissions for local flying service have been granted, said Rajiv Anchal, CMD of Jatayu Earth’s Centre.

The inauguration has been postponed due to delay in the completion of the project owing to incessant rains. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by ministers, MLAs, MPs and renowned persons from various walks of life.

Jatayu Earth’s Centre, sprawling in 65 acres, is the first BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) project in the state’s tourism sector. The Tourism Department takes pride to present to the nation, a tourism project that will attract tourists from across the world. Focussing on cultural tourism, artistic performances will be staged near the Jatayu sculpture.

Kadakampally Surendran said Jatayu Earth’s Centre, showcasing the world’s largest bird sculpture, will mark a milestone in Kerala’s tourism sector. For the time being, Rs 400 will be charged from the tourists, including Rs 250 for cable car journey and Rs 150 as entry fees.
