Amit Shah to arrive on whirlwind visit to Kerala on Tuesday

The BJP president will inaugurate the meeting of the booth-level in-charges of Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Mavelikkara constituencies from 5 - 6pm.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national chief Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive here on a whirlwind visit to the state on Tuesday. BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan told reporters here Shah will take stock of the party’s preparedness for the general elections due next year as well as to ensure the Narendra Modi Government’s welfare schemes are conveyed to the people.

After touching down at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport at 11 am, Shah will be accorded a rousing welcome at the airport under the auspices of the BJP district committee, Radhakrishnan said. From 12 pm-3 pm Shah will  hold talks with the BJP core committee members on the progress in the electioneering plans for Lok Sabha elections which was chalked out during earlier visits. From 3.30 -4.30pm the BJP president will attend the joint meeting of leaders in charge of Parliament constituencies as well as full-timers assigned to these constituencies. The BJP president will inaugurate the meeting of the booth-level in-charges of Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Mavelikkara constituencies from 5 - 6pm.

As part of publicising the Centre’s welfare programmes to the general public, Shah will meet a couple of prominent persons in the capital. Later, he will meet the senior leaders of the RSS and affiliated organisations. He will be meeting the party leaders from Lakshadweep at 9pm and will fly back to New Delhi on Wednesday morning.The programmes will be conducted at the RDR convention centre at Edapazhanji, Radhakrishnan said. BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president S Suresh was also present.

T’Puram: The BJP has alleged the LDF Government had appointed Tom Jose, a extremely corrupt person, as the Chief Secretary(CS). BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan said the people of the state should be vigilant  this person does not pawn the state’s land documents for personal gains. Tom Jose had partnered  a consortium of banks to divert funds allocated for the Kochi Metro by ganging up against Metroman  E Sreedharan. Since he  was close to  Oomen Chandy, the CPM had come out with protests against the IAS officer, he said. The BJP had also staged agitations against his corrupt moves,the BJP leader said. Tom Jose was shunted out of Kochi Metro project by the public and he is a person who will resort to just about anything to get things done, he said.
