Anticipatory bail plea put off: Realtor Bindhu missing case

Three teams under the district police have been investigating the case. An action council was set up at Cherthala demanding to trace the missing woman.

ALAPPUZHA: The District and Sessions Court here on Monday posted the verdict on the anticipatory bail application filed by an accused T Mini alias Jaya of Kuruppamkulangara in the missing case of realtor Bindhu to Wednesday. Mini, who allegedly signed various land deal documents as Bindhu, approached the court for granting anticipatory bail after the police began a lookout for her.

Meanwhile, DGP Loknath Behera expressed satisfaction over the current investigation and has given directions to trace Bindhu as early as possible.

Three teams under the district police have been investigating the case. An action council was set up at Cherthala demanding to trace the missing woman. Council leader and social activist K R Rupesh said the council has decided to approach the Kerala High Court demanding a CBI probe into the investigation. He said the police investigation is not in the right direction.

“The police have not yet arrested Sebastian and Mini who are suspects in the case. They had appeared before the police for giving statements but the police failed to arrest them. Now they are absconding and trying to get anticipatory bail. An investigation by a powerful agency can reveal the mystery behind the case,” he said.

The case turned more mysterious with the suicide of an autorickshaw driver Manoj, 47, who was called by the SIT for interrogation. Manoj was found hanging at his house at Pallipuram on June 28.
He was an intimate friend of Sebastian, a friend, and co-dealer of Bindhu. The anticipatory bail plea filed by prime accused Sebastian was dismissed by the District and Sessions Court earlier.
Bindhu, 46, daughter of late Padmanabhan Pillai and late Ambikadevi, Padma Nivas, Kadakkarapally, Cherthala, is missing since August 2013.

The incident came to limelight when her brother Praveen, who is settled in Italy, approached the police last September. However, the Pattanakkad police did not take any action on his complaint.
In May 2018, Praveen again approached the Home Department, following which the police started a probe in the case.
