Cabinet appoints Jeevan Babu as Idukki Dist Collector

Jeevan Babu belongs to the 2011 IAS batch of the West Bengal cadre, succeeds incumbent G R Gokul. This is the first time a person hailing from the region has been made the Idukki Collector.

T’PURAM/IDUKKI : The Cabinet has decided to appoint Jeevan Babu as the District Collector of Idukki. He is presently serving as the Kasargod Collector. Babu, who belongs to the  2011 IAS batch of the West Bengal cadre, succeeds incumbent G R Gokul. This is the first time a person hailing from the region —  Jeevan is from Nellikkavu near Thodupuzha here — has been made the Idukki Collector.

Prior to this, he was Assistant Collector Thrissur, Kanhangad Sub-Collector, Excise Assistant Commissioner, Survey Director, Bevco MD,  Cashew Development Corporation MD and Election Commission Deputy Commissioner Usha Titus will be in charge of Higher Education Department until Asha Thomas, who is on leave, rejoins duty. Usha will also hold temporary charge of Taxes and Excise Department. M Sunil Kumar is the new managing director, Kerala Coconut Development Corporation. He was serving as deputy director, Dairy Development Department.

Ordinances to be reissued
The Cabinet has decided to reissue four ordinances whose terms are nearing their end. The Governor will be recommended to repromulgate them, the government said on Wednesday. Two ordinances related to Calicut University are to be combined. The ordinances are, the Calicut University (Alternate Arrangement Temporarily of the Senate and Syndicate) (Amendment) Ordinance (23 of 2018 and 37 of 2018); the Kerala Cooperative Hospital Complex and the Academy of Medical Sciences (Taking over the Management and Administration) Ordinance and the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as respects the services under the Waqf Board) Ordinance.
