Condition of three injured stable in stabbing spree

KOLLAM: The condition of three persons who were injured in the stabbing spree by a patient at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, which led to the death of a 25-year-old doctor, is stable. 

Local resident Binu,36, Sub-Inspector Manilal, 45, and Homeguard Alexkutty, 57, were attacked by S Sandeep, a former school teacher who was brought to the hospital allegedly in an ‘inebriated’ condition in the early hours of Wednesday.

Manilal, who sustained injuries on his head, and Binu, who was injured on the neck, are undergoing treatment at NS Hospital in Kollam. “Both Manilal and Binu are out of danger. Currently, they are under observation under the supervision of a surgeon,” said a hospital official.

The condition of Alexkutty, who is undergoing treatment at Vijaya Hospital, Kottarakkara, is also stable. “He sustained a total of six stabs and also has a minute fracture on the skull. As of now, he is out of danger,” said Dr Suraj Shankar of Vijaya Hospital. The incident took place when the accused, Sandeep, was brought to the hospital to dress his wounds.
