CBSE Class X & XII exams: Kerala tops nationwide with 99.91 per cent success rate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala registered the highest success rate of 99.91 per cent among the states in the CBSE Class X and Class XII exams, the results of which were declared on Friday. Trivandrum region, comprising schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, continued to clinch the top spot among the various CBSE regions this year too with a pass percentage of 99.91. The all-India success rates for Class X and Class XII exams were 93.12 per cent and 87.33 per cent, respectively.

Of the 63,035 students who appeared from the state for the Class X exam, 62,978 became eligible for higher studies. This included 31,162 boys and 31,816 girls. In Lakshadweep, 246 of the 249 students who appeared for the exam passed, registering a success rate of 98.8 per cent.

The number of students who passed the Class X exam from various categories of schools in the state were:  Independent (private) schools - 57,215; government - 173; Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) - 4,499, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) - 1,090.

While the government and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the state recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the Class X exam, the pass percentage in independent (private) schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas were 99.91 and 99.98, respectively. 

Class XII exam
In the Class XII exam, 40,525 of the 40,560 students who appeared from the state passed. This included 19,775 boys and 20,750 girls.  In Lakshadweep, all 24 students who appeared for the exam passed with a 100 per cent success rate. The number of students who passed the Class XII exam from various categories of schools in Trivandrum region (Kerala and Lakshadweep) were:  Independent (private) schools - 35,550; government - 162; Kendriya Vidyalaya - 3,675, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya - 1,123.

While government schools in the Trivandrum region recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the Class XII exam, the pass percentage in independent (private) schools, KVs and JNVs were: 98.84, 98.96 and 99.59, respectively.
