Kerala records better success rate than all-India average in ICSE, ISC exams

Of 10,118 students who appeared for the two exams, all but 5 are eligible for higher studies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala registered better success rates than the national average in the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) exams, the results of which were announced by the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Sunday. While the state posted success rates of 99.97% and 99.88% in the ICSE and ISC exams, respectively, the all-India pass percentage was 98.94 and 96.93, respectively. 

Of the 7,519 students who appeared for the ICSE exam from 158 schools in the state, all but two became eligible for higher studies. This included 3,607 boys and 3,910 girls. A total of 2,599 students appeared for the ISC exam from 73 schools in the state, all but three passed. This included 1,248 boys and 1,348 girls. 

CISCE released only the first merit position list at the national level for both the ICSE and ISC exams. While 499/500 marks  (99.80%) was the top merit position for the ICSE test, it was 399/400 (99.75%) for ISC. None of the students from the state figured in the first merit position list at the national level in both examinations. 

The state highest for the ICSE exam was 498/500 marks (99.6%). It was shared by Sreya S of L’ecole Chempaka, Thiruvananthapuram and Therese Maria Denny of St Patrick’s Academy, Angamaly. Nijisha P S of Phoenix Public School, Thrissur, clinched the second merit position in the state with 497 marks (99.40%).

The four students who bagged the third merit position in the state for the ICSE exam with 496 marks (99.2%) were Pranjal Bhatt and Ria Maria Manoj of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram; Somanshu Saha of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram and Kalyani Krishna of Bishop Moore Vidyapith, Kayamkulam.

The first merit position in the state for the ISC exam was 397/400 marks (99.25%). It was shared by Shreya Anil of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hashna Shabi S of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram. Bhadra R of Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram, bagged the second merit position with 396 marks (99%).

Aravind N R of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, Keshav Ranjith of Christ Nagar School, Thiruvananthapuram, and Juliette Lizsnow of St Patrick’s Academy, Angamaly, were placed in the third merit position in the state with 395 marks (98.75%). CISCE said the results could be accessed from any of the options indicated on its website http://www.cisce.org.
