THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Terming the ruling dispensation a band of robbers, Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan has said the state government has no cause to celebrate its second anniversary.

“Corruption, commission projects, nexus between CPM and mafia, creating a situation where one cannot differentiate police from goonda, destruction of law and order, tax looting, growing violence against women and children, inflation, destruction of the agrarian sector: These are some of its achievements in the last two years,” he said in a statement on the eve of the government’s second anniversary.

The artificial intelligence (AI) camera project had turned out to be a project to benefit relatives of the chief minister. Corruption linked to the K-FONE project exceeds that of the AI camera project. The government had imposed an additional tax of Rs 4,500 crore through fuel tax and increased the price of liquor. It has failed to stop the spread of drugs. CPM is protecting the mafia,” Satheesan said.

“Police data reveals the growing violence against women. Protection of women has been reduced to mere rhetoric. If a compromise had not been reached with the central BJP leadership in the LIFE Mission case the CM would have landed in jail,” he said.

“The agriculture sector had been destroyed. The government is deceiving fishermen, SC/ST by not giving them their due. Building construction workers have not received pensions for a year. The Tanur boat mishap is a government-sponsored tragedy. The Pinarayi government has no right to celebrate its second anniversary,” Satheesan said.
