BHUBANESWAR: Ravenshaw University is in the process of filling up vacancies in the teaching posts in various departments. The Government has approved recruitment of 153 faculty positions comprising 17 professors, 49 readers and 91 lecturers. The University has been advised to follow the norms of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Orissa Universities First Statutes (OUFS) and decisions of the executive council of the university, said Ravenshaw University Vice-Chancellor Debdas Chhotray.

Applications for the vacant teacher posts were invited through open advertisement and the university has received more than 7,000 applications. The task of verification of applications and short-listing of eligible candidates has been outsourced to XIMB, Bhubaneswar, which has completed short-listing of candidates.

Chhotray said that the panels for subject matter experts and evaluation procedure during interview have been approved by the executive council of the university. The Chancellor has also approved panel of his nominees, comprising 13 eminent professionals on August 15. The Chancellor’s nominees will oversee the selection process.

Intimation will be sent to the short-listed candidates shortly. It has been decided to call seven candidates for each vacant post for interview which may consist of power point or oral presentation, he said.

Selection of candidates for Geology, Sociology, English and Economics will be done on a priority basis because of acute shortage of faculty in these departments. Interview of short-listed candidates is likely to start from the middle of September, university sources said.
