BHUBANESWAR: Close on the heels of Kharabela Swain, Tara Prasad Bahinipati quit the BJP and joined the Congress today. ``It is like homecoming for me,’’ Bahinipati told mediapersons after rejoining the Congress and thanked former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang for facilitating his return to the Congress.
Bahinipati’s induction into the party was announced by Pradesh Congress president KP Singhdeo.
Bahinipati left the Congress and joined the BJP just before the last general election as he was among the few sitting MLAs who were denied party ticket.
Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh, working president Chandra Sekhar Sahu, vice-president Sibananda Ray and several other leaders welcomed Bahinipati.
