IF YOU’VE watched the National Award winner bollywood superhit Ghayal, you would hardly stand the recently released Shatru Sanghar for even minutes. Even Rahul Dev cannot save the three-hour film from being another debacle from Pine Cask entertainment after their first venture Mahanayak.
The Sudhanshu Sekhar Sahu directed flick has problems not as much with direction or acting as with the extremely lengthy and humour-free serious script. Yes the cameraman S.Ramesh has to be lauded for excellent angles in the song shot in Ladakh and infact throughout the film. However, the twists that the movie tried to give to the audience to be different from its source (Ghayal) only made the story more complex.
The female lead Shriya Jha from Mumbai, who has already done a movie each in Telugu and Bengali has not disappointed while Akash too has tried his best, even if his character has not been assigned many shades. The veteran Siddhant and the Bengali girl Samapika have also done justice to their short roles. But the illogical action sequences, despite computer effects do not promise to attract viewers. In these times of light romantic comedies, an extremely serious action thriller with negative roles assigned to Bijay Mohanty, Ashrumochan and Mihir Das hardly have the flavour to attract today’s generation even though the veterans, like always, did their job best.
As an attraction, there are two very hot item songs in the film but they hardly come to the rescue to save the film.
