CUTTACK: After a wait of six months, Orissa High Court today got its full time Chief Justice. Only for four days though.

Justice Bilal Nazki of the Bombay High Court was today sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court by Governor MC Bhandare. But he is due to retire on November 17.

In effect, he would have hardly two days to officiate. Being sworn in on the second Saturday of the month, a Government holiday, and followed by Sunday, he would have only two working days until his retirement. He would hold court on Monday and part of Tuesday before the High Court organises a farewell for him.

Justice Nazki replaces Justice BS Chauhan who was elevated as judge of Supreme Court from Chief Justice of the Orissa HC in May this year. He was the Chief Justice of the State from July 2008. After his departure, the chair had fallen vacant with Justice IM Quddusi acting as the Chief Justice. The successor of Chief Justice Nazki is yet to be finalised and the chair is all set to be reverted to Justice IM Quddusi as acting CJ.
