BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that 48 Bangladeshi infiltrators had been deported during the last seven years from the State.

In a written reply to a question from Prafulla Kumar Mallik (BJD), the Chief Minister said that during the last seven years the State Government had directed district administrations for identification of Bagladeshi infiltrators 22 times. He said that 25 of the 30 districts had completed the identification process and 4,083 infiltrators have been identified.

Naveen said that after the identification process is over, the State Government will take necessary steps in consultation with the Centre to deport the remaining infiltrators. He said that 17 Bangladeshi families have so far been identified to have been settled in the Refugee Colony at Cuttack Road, Laxmisagar here.

They have filed a writ petition regarding their settlement in the High Court which is sub judice, he said.
