MALKANGIRI: The three-day mega tribal festival Malyabanta Mahotsav-2009 concluded here on Sunday evening.
One of the major draws of the festival were the cultural programmes staged by artistes from the State and outside including Mizoram, Rajasthan and Assam. Over one lakh tourists thronged the DNK Grounds here to witness the tribal jamboree.
Malkangiri boy Siba Prasad Panda who cleared the Civil Services Examination and selected for Indian Revenue Service was felicitated with ‘Malyabanta Shree’ at the valedictory function.
Manoranjan Naik of Malkangiri who also cleared the Indian Civil Services Examination was also felicitated.
Among others, District Collector Nitin Bhanudas Jawale attended as the chief guest.
MP Pyarimohan Mohapatro could not attend the valedictory function as the guest of honour. SP Satyabrata Bhoi and District Information and Public Relations Officer Subash Chandra Nial, Malkangiri legislator Mukund Sodi and Notified Area Council Chairman Dhanurjaya Madkami were present.
