BHUBANESWAR: Laxman Murmu, the son of former minister Draupadi Murmu, died under mysterious circumstances here on Monday.
The 25-year old was found in an unconscious state in his bed in the morning and was taken to a private hospital, but was shifted to the Capital Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The BJP leader was away in Rairangpur when the incident took place. Laxman was staying at his uncle’s place at Patrapada area of the city.
Police said he is believed to have gone out for dinner with friends and was brought back in an unstable condition. Presuming him to be sleepy, his uncle and aunt did not disturb him. However, he did not wake up in the morning and was found to be unconscious.
When he was rushed to hospital, Laxman was dead. Initial investigation said, Laxman was brought back home in an autorickshaw by his friends. His body did not bear any external injury mark.
Police suspect that Laxman may have fallen off the bike of his friends while returning from the hotel where he had dinner causing internal head injury. Since his relatives did not suspect anything, the 25-year-old was not given medical attention.
Chief Medical Officer UK Mishra said post-mortem has been conducted but the report is awaited.
Police will question his friends and the autorickshaw driver to ascertain the cause.
