SAMBALPUR: The Hira Generation Transmission Distribution Workers’ Union (HGTDWU) have threatened to stage a dharna in front of the corporate office of Wesco at Burla on Monday demanding filling up of vacant posts, stop on outsourcing of core work and regularisation of contractual workers in Wesco besides payment of wage board arrears. They have been wearing black badges from September 10 in protest.
In a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Wesco, the union has accused the company of ignoring the recommendation of National Productivity Council (NPC) in filling up of vacant posts.
Stating that the growing number of consumers is not commensurate with the available manpower, they said vacancies has put the existing workers under tremendous pressure.
Although repeated discussions have been made with the management over the issue, no steps have yet been taken to fill up the vacancies.
Alleging that contractors were denied minimum wages to contractual workers, they protested outsourcing of core works. Maintaining that such contractual workers have been regularised in Haryana and Maharashtra as per Contractual Labour Regulation and Abolition Act, they have said the contractual workers should be taken on the roll of Wesco. They have also demanded immediate payment of wage board arrears from April 2005 to March 2009 on the lines of Gridco and OPTCL.
