BHUBANESWAR: Even as the State Vigilance has lodged cases against a former Chairman and a former managing director along with three officials of the Orissa Film Development Corporation (OFDC) on corruption charges, questions have been raised over continuance of the officials in their posts as investigation is on.

The anti-corruption wing of the State police has charged former Chairman Sitakanta Mishra, former MD RN Das, DGM (Accounts and Finance) Pratap Kumar Mishra, Assistant Manager Dillip Kumar Jena and senior assistant Bharati Prasad Barik with forming an unholy nexus to commit irregularities to the tune of ` 8.55 lakh towards renovation and construction of Chalachitra Bhawan at Buxi Bazaar, Cuttack. Besides, they had shown undue official favour to different film producers and allowed pecuniary advantage by way of grant and release of subsidy causing huge loss to the Corporation. The vigilance is also investigating the affairs of Kalinga Studio, which has fallen into a state of utter dilapidation due to gross mismanagement and irregularities.

The Cuttack Vigilance Division has registered cases under Section 13 (2), 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and 120B of IPC against the five.

But while the chairman and the managing director have changed, the other three continue to hold office. With criminal cases registered against them, they can very well tamper with evidences, sources pointed out.

The newly-appointed OFDC Chairman Muzibullah Khan, however, said that he was not aware of the vigilance cases against the officials. I would examine the cases and initiate appropriate action, he said.
