Narasingha Mishra made Law Commission member
BALANGIR: Former Law Minister Narasingha Mishra has been nominated as one of the 10 members of the Law Commission of India by the Ministry of Law and Company Affairs.
He is the first person from Orissa to become a part-time member of the Commission.
The committee consists of two full-time and seven part-time members besides chairman. In 1990, Mishra became the Law minister, chairman of State Law Revision Committee, member of Supreme Court Committee for Immediate Disposal of Cases, member of the Committee for Legal Education in Orissa under Justice LK Mahapatra.
Now, Mishra, as a member of the Law Commission, will be responsible for suggesting new laws to the Union Cabinet. He will also suggest revision of existing laws and give his views on several issues pertaining to law.
