BHUBANESWAR: Reliance Communications on Saturday announced the launch of its 3G services in Orissa. The 3G, available on the GSM platform, was rolled out in Bhubaneswar and Puri simultaneously with 14 more cities and towns to be brought into its fold within the next fortnight. Cuttack and Rourkela would follow suit within the next three days, regional head Vivek Garg told mediapersons.

 A superior network with 100 per cent fibre optic backhaul would enable data speeds ranging from 21 mbps to 28 mbps, taking the mobile experience among customers to another level. Apart from video calling, video streaming, live TV and thousands of applications, customers can access internet at highest speed. “The optic backhaul, content rich applications delivered in an easy-to-access mode, personalisation options and low tariffs including daily sachet packs are the four pillars that will create significant differentiations for the Reliance 3G services”, Garg added.

  The telecom major has announced automatic shift to 3G for existing customers while every new customer would also get 3G SIMs by default. The company has offered trial packs for the customers to get a feel of the services. The tariffs start from Rs 97 for 100MB usage in both pre/postpaid modes. For mobile TV, 75 channels are available at Rs 250 subscription.

  The company, which boasts of 7,000 km long optic fibre network in the State, has announced plans for taking its BTS towers to 2,400 from the existing 1,700 by the end of this month, thereby enabling congestion free 900 MHz connectivity, CEO, Orissa, Rahul Choudhury said.
