Dress up your tresses

Hair can be styled and make-up perfected for any occasion - a birthday bash, a casual get-together or even for weddings !

Going for a party and still pondering what hairstyle to flaunt? Well, if you had to ask the hairstylists in the city, there is plenty to experiment with whether you have long-flowing tresses or sport the keep-it-short hairdos. Hair can be styled and make-up perfected for any occasion - a birthday bash, a casual get-together or even for weddings !

While keeping them open or opting for the timeless ponytail are the most easiest and convenient hairstyles to go for, getting it styled at a salon is the latest fad.

According to Sukriti of Indulge Salon, Pal Heights, both straightening and curling are in when it comes to getting the hair styled for a party. Ironing and straightening hair is most preferred by women who have a curly or wavy hair. Similarly, blow dryer curls, tong curls, hot roller curls and ironing curls are options that women with straight hair opt for.

For weddings, she says hairstyles have undergone a seachange. Explaining that her team of hairdressers have recently attended a learning session by Loreal wherein their latest wedding collection photographs were launched, she says the new hairdos started by them have interesting names like the Sculpted Tiara, the Sea-Shell, Vintage Embrace, Swirling Sands and some more.

‘’The hair is first treated to make it smooth, then it is coloured and styled using various styling mousse and sprays to give the final look. High hair with curls, asymmetrical buns, French knots with hair jewllery and extended hair with braids all are used to give a sophisticated look. Use of coloured feathers, big flowers and hair jewellery is the in thing at present. Use of bumpers instead of hair buns gives a neater look to the quiffs and high hairs,’’ explains Sukriti.

Similarly, Naturals also has a variety to offer when it comes to hairstyles. Talking about the various styles in vogue, Uma says a lot of girls still prefer the Mumtaz  style high hairdos for parties and weddings. This apart, French rolls and ball buns are also in demand. She also informs that several girls today prefer to keep their hair open. ‘’In that case, we prefer to give a puff upwards and curls in the lower half of the hair. That gives a very stylish look. Some also like to keep it straight by ironing the hair with a few curls upwards,’’ informs Uma.

On wedding styles, says Uma, ‘’We prefer to make any style with the natural hair even if the hair is short. It is only in extreme cases when we go for artificial buns. That apart, we consider the shape of the face before finalising the hairdo as the shape of the face is the key to styling someone’s hair.’’

So, next time before putting on those party shoes, go ahead and get that gorgeous party perfect updo for making your very own style statement.
