BHUBANESWAR: Alma Fiesta 12, the cultural fest of Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IITB), which is entering its third year, will commence on January 13.

The three-day programme with the theme of Arabian Nights, will be bringing magic to the festival. The major event will be Enthony, the band competition. This has attracted numerous bands.

There will also be a group dance competition named Topsy Turvy. It will be the focus of the cultural event and is still receiving registration requests. Individual dancers will perform at the solo dance competition.

A workshop in movie making will be conducted by the graphic designing company Diabetes Ent. A salsa workshop will let the students learn a step or two from an experienced instructor.

They will conduct a Youth Marathon on January 15 and outsiders are also allowed to participate. The marathon will start from Janata Maidan.

The star attraction of the fest will be the performance of the band Bandish. They are a band from Delhi that had been nominated for the best band at the Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards 2007. The band will be performing at the Janata Maidan on January 15.

Most of the events will take place on the  IITB campus, but a few of them like Topsy Turvy will be conducted at the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) auditorium. The out station students will be provided accommodation inside the campus.
