The walls on either side of AG Chhak-Governor House Road will soon flaunt motifs drawn from our rich tradition. Stalled mid-way, the beautification drive has been resumed with the walls being painted by students of BK College of Art and Craft under the supervision of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The drive, taken up in 2008, was stalled for lack of resources and manpower. It is being funded by BMC. “The walls will be splashed with colours of our rich cultural tradition,” said Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, adding that the college is being paid ` 30 per square foot.
Paintings will also adorn the walls from AG Square till Capital Hospital Square. Besides wall paintings, the BMC also intends to expedite its plantation drive. Major plantation work will be take up from Acharya Vihar till Sainik School Square. “Besides, a fountain will be installed in front of Kalinga Kanan,” explained Jena. The plantation and installation of fountains at select locations will be done on public private partnership (PPP) mode.
