Around 130 students from Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Angul, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts participated in the Zonal competition of the Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) programme.

It was organised by Tata Steel in collaboration with Pathani Samanta Planetarium here on Monday.

YATS is organised every year with an objective to popularise science and spot young talents in the field of astronomy and space science.

Students from classes VIII to X can participate in the competition.

It was conducted in three stages at eight different zones. In the first stage, students were required to prepare a synopsis of ‘India and Space Research’.
