The Performance Tracking Cell (PTC), aimed at monitoring a college’s comprehensive database and infrastructure, was supposed to be operational from this month, but its introduction has been delayed due to non-availability of hardware.
The Higher Education Department had mentioned that the PTC would be operational at two levels as State Performance Tracking Cell (SPTC) and District Performance Tracking Cell (DTPC). The department had also chalked out a list of Common Minimum Standard (CMS) that every college has to fill up and submit at the end of every month. The details of every college would be hosted online for monitoring.
According to officials at the department, even though the software for the system is reportedly ready, the hardware to support the software is not available yet. The system would also monitor if the classes are being conducted properly and the lecturers punctual or not.
The single window grievance redressal system, initiated by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), has been transferred from the Textbook Bureau to the DHE.
“We are looking for immediate redressal of grievances and shifting the grievance redressal cell to the directorate will help achieve that,” said Director, Higher Education, Nibedita Jena. Saturday has been kept aside to hear grievances of the employees. Since its inception in July, around 30 cases have been disposed of.
