Curtains come down on Megha Utsav

The three-day long ‘Megha Utsav’, a celebration of the monsoon through literature, painting, music and dance jointly organised by Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy, Odisha Sahitya Academy and Odisha Lalit Kala Academy concluded here at Dr Radhanath Rath Community Centre on Sunday night.

The Odissi dance recital ‘Barsha Pranaya’ related to rain performed by the artistes of Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar enthralled the audience while the folk dance of Bihar presented by the artistes of Kala Sangraha, Patna, was another major attraction.

This apart, Bharti Bandhu from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Kabir Gayan and devotional music recital by singer

Ashalata Sarangi from Rourkela won the hearts of audience. The opening day on Friday saw performance by Odissi vocalist Guru Rabindranath Mishra, Indian Hindustani classical music vocalist Padmashree Madhup Mudgal, folk dance from Jharkhand inspired by rain by Deepanjali Dance Institute, Ranchi. Kathak dancer Malti Shyam and her group from New Delhi gave an impressive performance on the second day of the festival on Saturday.
