The-cut off percentage for admission to various courses in degree colleges did not show any remarkable drop in its second list that was out on Tuesday. The average drop in cut-offs across most courses __ humanities and science __ ranged between 1 and 3 percentage points.
For instance, while Physical Science cut-off was the highest at 89.80 pc at BJB Autonomous College in the first selection, there was a slight drop by 1.59 pc in the second list. The figure for Biological Science was higher at BJB College at 86.17 pc in first list and dropped to 84.20 pc for second selection.
The second selection cut-off for Physical Science stood at 85 pc at Basic Science & Humanities, 84.60 pc at RD Women’s College, 80.17 pc at Khallikote Autonomous College, 80 pc at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, 79.50 pc at Gangadhar Meher College, followed by 75.17 pc at Stewart Science College and 75.17 pc at JKBK College, Cuttack.
Similarly, the figure for Biological Science remained higher at 79.33 pc at RD Women’s College, 78.17 pc at Basic Science & Humanities. At Fakir Mohan College, the cut-off dropped from 72.17 pc to 70.67 pc in the second list. It stood at 70 pc at JKBK College and 71.50 pc at Stewart Science College.
In Arts too, many reputed colleges slashed their cut-offs by just 1 to 2 pc. It was 62.33 pc at BJB College, followed by 60.63 pc at FM College, 57.17 pc at RD Women’s College and 54.83 pc at Khallikote College. For Commerce, BJB, RD and Khallikote colleges maintained cut-offs at 79.33, 68,33 and 68.50 pc respectively.
Self-financing courses saw cut-offs ranging between 54 pc and 70 pc across degree colleges.
There are a total of 1,49,039 seats in 685 degree colleges in the State and over two lakh students have applied for it this year. In the first selection, 1,08,135 students had taken admission. For the vacant 41,288 seats, intimations have been sent to 22,009 students for admission to second selection list.
