In its bid to generate entrepreneurship and self-employment at the grassroots, the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has directed the district industries centres (DICs) to take proactive steps in identifying, motivating and facilitating ventures for unemployed youth.

Issuing specific guidelines in this  connection, the department has asked the DICs to start the identification and motivation process immediately. Funds have been allotted to the centres for utilisation in the programme and the DICs can jointly coordinate the initiatives with NSIC, MSMEDI and KVICs.

While identifying potential entrepreneurs, the DICs will have to conduct entrepreneur development training for the selected youth and assist them in choosing viable projects for their self-employment venture. They will have to lend a helping ahnd to the outh so that they can successfully establish their ventures and sustain the enterprise.

The DICs will also provide various services to the newly formed units as per IPR 2007, MSME development policy 2009 and National Manufacturing Policy in respect of technology, quality, bar coding, design product, manufacturing, and energy conservation and marketing.

They will have to submit a Key Performance Indicator Report every month. There will be  monthly review of their performances and achievement, the guidelines have stipulated.
