Ten years back she was drugged and sold off to a brothel in Mumbai but she has returned from sexual slavery to avenge her ordeal.

The 27-year-old woman of Tengeramari village under Bhogarai police limits was 17 years of age when one Pradip Mahuri and his wife of the same village sold her off to one Bapi of Baliapal and Shiva of Haldipada who drugged her and again sold her to a brothel in Mumbai.

“I remember that I had come out of my house along with Pradip and his wife. They met Bapi and Shiva who drugged me and took me to Mumbai in a train. When I gained my sense, I was in the brothel and its lady owner said I have been sold off by the duo,” said the woman.

She still shivers to recall the physical and mental torture she was subjected to. She said the brothel owner engaged her in prostitution against her will. “Whenever I refused to go the customers, she would beat me up severely and deprive me of food. Several times I tried to flee in vain. Sometimes I was even sent to outside the brothel to do the dirty work,” she said.

Later, the woman, now a mother of two, was engaged in a bar where she met one Shivananda Malyapa of Karnataka. “When Malyapa learnt about my ordeals, he agreed to marry me. One day we fled the bar and married at a nearby temple. When the bar owner came to know about our marriage, he chased us but we managed to flee and reached  Malyapa’s house in Bijapur where we stayed for some time,” she added.

Meanwhile, in her village the woman’s father had lodged a missing complaint. Following the complaint, police had arrested Pradip and his wife, who after spending three months in jail, were released on bail. The case was later disposed of as the woman could not be traced.

Now after returning to her village, she narrated her ordeal to the villagers and alleged that Pradip and his wife have again threatened her with dire consequences. When the matter was brought to the notice of the village committee, the villagers decided to lodge another complaint against Pradip and his wife.

A fresh case was registered against the two on Wednesday. Investigation was on and the accused couple is absconding, said a police officer.
