More than 20 BPL families of Maisanpur under Chikiti block on Friday staged a demonstration in front of Southco office protesting lack of power supply to their houses.
The families alleged that 25 BPL families of the village were provided power supply under Rajiv Gandhi Bidyutkaran Yojana in March last year. But the supply was disconnected after two days.
Initially, the families suspected that power disruption may have been caused by technical snag. But when they approached the electrical junior engineer, he said the power supply was given on trial basis. Since the contractor assigned for the purpose had not handed over the papers, Southco cannot provide power supply.
