Girls score over boys in CBSE plus two

Girls have scored over boys in the Class XII examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Bhubaneswar region. The results were declared on Monday.

Girls have registered a pass percentage of 89.08 against 83.37 by boys this time. The overall pass percentage of Bhubaneswar region was 85.81 per cent, slightly higher than last year’s 83.84 per cent. Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh come under CBSE’s Bhubaneswar region and a total of 40,580 students had appeared at the examination this year. Of them, 16,754 were girls.

CBSE-Bhubaneswar Regional Officer AS Verma said from Odisha, 9,534 students had appeared, of which 8,154 passed the examination.

Similarly, 17,527 students had appeared from West Bengal of which, 14,753 cleared the examination. From Chhattisgarh, 10,779 students passed out of the 13,318 students who appeared for the examination. Verma added that around two-thirds of the students in Bhubaneswar region have scored above 60 per cent marks. Around 31.4 per cent students in the region have scored above 75 per cent.

Nikhil Singhania of DAV Public School, Burla scored the highest of 98.6 per cent in Science stream in the State. CBSE-affiliated schools across Bhubaneswar also performed well with a substantial number of students scoring above 90 per cent marks. Srestha Panda from DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, was one of  highest scorer with 98 per cent in Science stream. Of total 224 students who appeared for the examinations from DAV-Chandrasekharpur, 112 have managed to score more than 90 per cent which is a record.

At Mother’s Public School, Akansha Patnaik topped the Science stream by scoring 97.4 per cent and Partha Sarathi Sahoo topped the Commerce stream with 95.2 per cent.Of 409 students from the Mother’s Public School who appeared for the examination, 95 students have scored above 90 per cent in Science stream and all the students have scored more than 60 per cent.

Siddhant Dwivedi from DPS Kalinga School topped the Science stream in the school by scoring 96.8 per cent and Ayush Bansal topped Commerce stream by scoring 96 per cent. Aanchal Patnaik of the same school scored 94.8 per cent to top Humanities stream. The school has achieved 100 per cent pass percentage. SAI International School registered a pass percentage of 95 with around 35 per cent Science students and 41 per cent Commerce students scoring above 90 per cent. Here, Sunayana Sasmal of Science scored the highest marks with 94.4 per cent and Shreya Somani of Commerce stream scored 96 per cent.

This year, around 535 students appeared for the improvement examination and 3,130 have given their compartmental examinations in the region. Meanwhile, putting to rest uncertainty over the Class X results, CBSE officials said the results will be declared within a week’s time.
