The Department of Higher Education (DHE) has decided to train junior and degree college officials on e-despatch to speed up communication between the colleges and the Government.
About 2,000 junior and degree colleges, both Government and private, will be covered under the programme in the first phase. The officials from the district nodal colleges will be trained by Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC).
The training will begin from November 22. The directorate and university officials will also be briefed on e-despatch handling on November 23.
A senior DHE official said they were facing a lot of problems in receiving important documents on time.
“There were instances of crucial paper work getting lost either in the transportation or a work being stalled due to a delay. These problems will be eliminated after the e-despatch mechanism is put to use,” the official said.
Currently, e-despatch services are limited to the Secretariat only. A scanner and computer system will be provided to the colleges for the purpose and internet connection to the colleges which do not have the facility.
The district nodal college officials who will receive the training will train other colleges under them.
DHE officials said the system will be put in place in these colleges by January next year.
