BERHAMPUR: A master plan has been drawn up for development of Berhampur railway station, informed Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of East Coast Railways Lingaraj Nanda during his visit here on Monday.
Nanda inspected the ongoing works in the railway station and attended the Berhampur Railway Station Advisory Committee meeting later in the day.
Addressing the meeting, he said adjacent areas of the railway station will be developed under the master plan. While new parking places have been identified at the backside of the station, CCTV cameras would be installed both inside and outside the station to keep a watch on the movement of passengers, he added.
The reservation of tickets would be modernised and a rest shed constructed between the ticket counter and the entrance gate.
Steps are being taken to provide safe drinking water to passengers at various places inside the station and a new entrance would be opened at platform-4. A proposal to set up a food plaza in the station is also under consideration, Nanda said.
The DCM was accompanied by Assistant Divisional Engineer AK Parida, Station Manager DP Bramha, Chief Commercial Inspector KN Pasayat and RPF Inspector Kiran Kumar.
