Lifetime Award for Uttam Mohanty

CUTTACK:Veteran star Uttam Mohanty has been conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Odia film industry at the sixth Tarang Cine Awards function held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here.

 A special honour was also accorded to director actor Hara Patnaik, who died recently. The award was presented to his wife Jharana Patnaik by co-founder and director of Odisha Television Network Jagi Mangat Panda in a touching moment that brought the film and television stars and technicians to tears.

The sixth Tarang Cine Awards, however, celebrated the success of Ollywood film industry in 2014 unfurling a star-studded night with biggest names of the industry performing on stage. Anchored by actors Buddhaditya Mohanty and Manoj Mishra, the event witnessed a huge gathering.

 Bollywood diva Prachi Desai stole the show with her performance but the Ollywood stars were not behind either.

Odia audience for the first time saw star Arindam Roy performing a breathtaking aerial act while Sabyasachi Mishra enthralled the audience with his shadow act.

Archita Sahoo, who was nominated in the best actress category, and starlet Elina also performed to huge cheers from the audience, who had gathered in large numbers.

Among the other performers were Buddhaditya Mohanty, Anu Choudhury and Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pom Pom.

 The first couple of the industry, Anubhav Mohanty and Barsha Priyadarshini, came together on stage for a special announcement of their upcoming film ‘Gappa Hele Bi Sata’ produced under the banner of Tarang Cine Productions.

The awards function will be telecast on Tarang channel on March 22 from 7 pm.
