BHUBANESWAR: The Second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar, Lalit Das has convicted a notorious narcotics peddler Prashant Kumar Samanta in drug dealing case and sentenced him to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed Rs 1 lakh fine.
Samanta had been caught by a special squad of Excise Intelligence and Enforcement Bureau led by the then inspector Amar Jena with 4.5 kg of opium and 40 kg of ganja at Anlajodi station in Khurda on May 24 last year.
The narcotics had been valued at Rs 10 lakh.
