BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Government has done away with the Diploma Entrance Test (DET) for admission into diploma programmes in engineering and technology.
Admission into the diploma courses would now be based on students' score in the qualifying examination which is either Class X or Class XII.
The Skill Development and Technical Education Department on Friday issued a notification which stated that DET 2016 has been dispensed with by the Government. As a result, admission into all seats including lateral entry would be made on basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination through centralised counselling.
An order of merit would be created to facilitate the admission process which has the sanction of the All India Council of Technical Education.
As per the notification, admission into three-year diploma in engineering and technology would be made on the basis of marks scored in Class X or senior secondary examination. The candidate would have to score at least 35 per cent and clear the test.
For lateral entry route to third semester, the admission will be based on marks scored in Class XII with Science with vocational or technical course. Students who have cleared Class X and have at least two years of ITI can also be eligible for admission.
