BHUBANESWAR: The BJB Autonomous College scored over other degree colleges in the State by posting the highest cut-off percentage in all five streams of Arts, Science, Commerce, Physical Science and Biological Science.
The merit list was published by the Department of Higher Education (DHE) on Wednesday. This year, Government-run degree colleges have posted the highest cut-off in the five streams.
Admission to 1,94,999 seats in 785 degree colleges will begin from July 15 and continue till July 20 (except Sunday). At least 1,55,548 students have been selected for admission to first merit list of Plus Three Arts, Commerce, Science (Physical and Biological), Shastri and self-financing courses. In Arts, 97,525 students have been selected while the number is 17,303 for Commerce, 20,648 for Physical Science, 14,333 in Biological Science and 966 for self-financing courses.
In Bhubaneswar, the maximum number of forms has been received by BJB Autonomous College. The college posted cut-off of 77 per cent (pc) for Arts, 86 pc for Commerce, 92 pc for Physical Science, 92.29 pc for Biological Science and 88.8 pc for self-financing courses.
In Arts stream, Nayagarh College posted the second highest cut-off of 70.67 pc while Rajendra Autonomous College in Balangir sought 70.5 pc. It was followed by Sailabala Women’s College which has sought 6.83 pc for first phase admission.
In Physical Science, College of Basic Science and Humanities posted cut-off of 89.6 pc followed by Rajdhani College with 84.5 pc and Fakir Mohan College with 84 pc. Stewart Science and Sailabala Women’s Colleges have posted cut-off of 82.33 pc and 82 pc respectively. Basic Science College posted the second highest cut-off of 89 pc in Biological Science followed by Rourkela Government College with 82.83 pc.
While Sailabala Women’s College has sought 82.67 pc for admission to Commerce stream, Rajdhani College posted 77.3 pc. Similarly in Sanskrit degree colleges, Badambeswari Mahavidyalay in Mayurbhanj has sought the highest cut-off of 50.57 pc followed by Government Sanskrit College in Baripada with 50.43 pc and Minaketan Memorial Mahavidyalaya of Nayagarh with 49.57 pc.
The second selection merit list will be out on July 25 and admission would be conducted from July 27 to 29. Similarly, admissions to the balance seats will be done on August 5 and 6 and regular classes would begin on August 8.
