Puri ROB to be repaired by June 30

Stating that there is no technical problem in the bridge, the union minister said repair work will be started on June 20 and completed within ten days by June 30.

BHUBANESWAR: Union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari today said that the approach to road overbridge (ROB) at Samajajpur along the NH-316 (old NH-203) will be repaired by June 30.

Stating that there is no technical problem in the bridge, the union minister said repair work will be started on June 20 and completed within ten days by June 30. The depression in the approach to the ROB has taken place because compression of earth.

A depression in the approach to the ROB had prompted the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to seek a diversion of traffic to Puri along the NH-316 (old NH-203) ahead of Rath Yatra.

Terming it as "gap slab settlement", the NHAI sources said, immediate repair is warranted since the movement of heavy vehicles is unsafe on the ROB stretch of the highway.
