ROURKELA: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday conducted multiple raids to unearth properties worth around Rs 1.18 crore possessed by Mining Inspector Biswanath Sahu attached to Rourkela Mining Circle in Sundargarh district.
The office of the Samabalpur Vigilance SP stated that armed with search warrants with regard to illegal possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, multiple raids were conducted at the premises of Sahu and his relatives.
Sahu’s residence at Chhend Colony and office at Uditnagar and his brother’s house in Angul were searched. The office chamber of his wife, who is a Central Government employee at Rourkela, was also searched simultaneously.
His two-storied building at Chhend Colony was estimated at around Rs 53.85 lakh, while another plot at the same locality was valued at Rs 2.77 lakh.
Moveable properties including vehicles, gold and silver ornaments and household articles were valued at Rs 26.93 lakh, while bank and insurance deposits were valued at Rs 34.85 lakh. The Vigilance sleuths also established expenditures of around Rs 26.50 lakh incurred by the Mining Inspector towards education of his children.
