BHUBANESWAR: Dubbing the Naveen Patnaik government as inefficient and treacherous, the state BJP on Wednesday released a political 'charge sheet' against the ruling BJD.

The charge sheet nailed the state government on 30 different counts accusing it of bad governance, broken promises, brazen scams and  betraying the trust of the people.

Releasing a 24-page booklet titled "Charge sheet against BJD Government" here, state BJP president Basanta Panda asked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to explain the people as to why the state is still
backward despite a stable government in power for more than 16 years.

Exposing the failures of the government in all sectors including agriculture, health, education, drinking water supply and sanitation, rural housing, infrastructure, industry and employment, Panda said
the state's finance was so poorly managed that its revenue income is inadequate to meet the salary, pension and interest needs.

Hitting out at the Chief Minister for making false claim of constructing 10 pucca houses in rural areas in last two years, the BJP said that the Panchayati Raj minister, in a statement in the Assembly
in December last year, had stated that the state government had constructed 3,02,033 houses in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 fiscal.

He dared the chief minister to furnish the details of these seven lakh houses in the district, block and village level.

Describing the state government's promise to provide pipe water to all the households in rural areas by 2025 as ridiculous, the BJP said the ruling party has been able to cover only 2 percent of the 81.73 lakh households under the pipe water scheme in the last 16 years.

The recurring incidents of jaundice in the State proved the inefficiency of the Government so far as supply of safe drinking water is concerned.

The BJP came down heavily on the State Government for failing to meet the electricity need of people as 41 percent of the households are still deprived of electricity.

Attacking the Government for large scale vacancy of teachers in Government and aided educational institutions and doctors in Government hospitals, the party said while education system has crumbled,
the health services in the State has gone from bad to worse.

Nagada malnutrition death, Dana Majhi case and the deaths of over 100 children in Malkangiri district in Japanese Encephalitis are the best examples of the state of health services in the state, the charge sheet said.

While the government has miserably failed in creating additional irrigation potential, farmers are subject to exploitation due lack of storage facility and buy back arrangement.

Panda said his party will take this message to the people who have been so far cheated by the ruling BJD.
