Four, including electrical engineer and fire safety officer, of SUM hospital arrested

City police on Tuesday evening arrested four employees of Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital in connection with the fire mishap that led to the death of 22 persons.

BHUBANESWAR: City police on Tuesday evening arrested four employees of Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital in connection with the fire mishap that led to the death of 20 persons.

Acting on the complaint of central range fire officer Brajendu Bhusan Das, the police have arrested Medical Superintendent Pushparaj Samantasinghar, ex-executive engineer (electrical maintenance) of SUM Hospital Amulya Sahu, fire safety officer Santosh Das and junior engineer (electrical maintenance) Malaya Kumar Sahu.

Speaking to mediapersons, Bhubaneswar Commissioner of Police Y B Khurania said the four employees were arrested after prima facie evidence was found after the complaint was received. Gurther investigation is on.

The four have been booked under sections 304, 308, 285 and 34 of IPC, he added.
