MBA student among 4 held for stealing vehicles in Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate of Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a vehicle lifting gang by arresting four persons, including an MBA student from the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Police recovered a Swift Dezire, a Hero ZMR motorbike and an expensive mobile phone from their possession.

The gang members have been identified as Sandeep Nayak alias Bapun (27) of Ratingia, Pintu Digal (25) and Jitendra Sahu alias Jitu (31) of Tikabali, in Kandhamal district and Sivil Kumar Priyadarshan alias Chiku (31) of Niali in Cuttack district.

According to police, the gang had booked an Uber taxi up to Bharatpur near Kalinga Studio square on March 21. The four youth threatened the driver to get down from the car at around 11:50 am and then fled with the vehicle on Chandaka - Pitapalli route.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Khandagiri police raided a remote location near Chandaka and arrested the four. Their interrogation led to the seizure of the stolen vehicles, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.

While Bapun, Pintu and Jitu were staying in a rented accommodation in Salia Sahi under Nayapalli police limits, Chiku stayed in a flat near Palasuni Durga Mandap under Mancheswar police limits in the City.
