All roads to lead to Janata Maidan during BJP's national executive committee meeting

BHUBANESWAR: Hectic preparations are underway at Janata Maidan in the city, the venue for the BJP's national executive committee meeting on April 15 and 16.

A fully-airconditioned pandal is being erected on an area of 51,000 square feet which will house a temporary office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Apart from the meeting pandal, there is seating arrangement for 576 persons, separate lounges for the Prime Minister, party's national president Amit Saha and Union Ministers who are members of the executive committee, said state BJP spokesperson in charge of protocol Dilip Mohanty.

As many as 334 delegates are expected to attend the national convention and arrangements have been made in six hotels near the meeting venue for their two-day stay in the city.

However, all the executive committee members will have their food (lunch and dinner) at the meeting venue were two dining halls have been constructed.

As per the party tradition, the Prime Minister will have his food in the dining hall along with other members. The food menu is also common for all and there will be no separate provision for the PM, said state vice-president and overall in-charge of the mega event of the party.

Showcraft Production Private Limited, a Delhi-based event management company, is erecting the pandal which will have exhibition areas at the entrance of the meeting hall to showcase the art and culture of Odisha with special emphasis on pattachitra and stone carving.

The parking area earmarked for the delegates was shifted to the ground of 7th Battallion of Odisha State Armed Police (OASP) following objection from Special Protection Group. However, the VIP parking will remain at Gandhi Park.

The entire event would run on the power supply from gen-sets as per the instructions of the SPG. The gen-sets, each with a capacity of 125 KVA, will be enough to meet the 1000 kilo watt requirement for the two-day meet. In fact, for back-up, an equal number of gen-sets have been readied in the disposal.

The CESU will power only the yard lights, outer areas. It has a 1 MVA transformer at the site to meet the power requirement. Another transformer of 250 KW has also been placed for exigency.
