Traffic advisory for Prime Minister's visit

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police on Friday advised commuters to opt for alternative routes since traffic congestion is expected on three stretches of the city due to arrival and movement of VVIPs for the BJP national executive meet on Saturday.

Issuing a traffic advisory, the police said traffic congestion is expected between Airport and AG Square, AG Square to Raj Bhawan and Raj Bhawan to Janata Maidan throughout the day. From 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, when the Prime Minster will land at the airport and proceed towards Raj Bhawan, a large congregation will bring traffic to a standstill. People heading towards the airport are advised to take the Old Airport road during the period.

Those coming from Gopabandhu Chowk to Governor House have been advised to take a de-tour from Saila Petrol Pump towards Unit-VI and Ganganagar Square or the route leading to the rear end of the Bhubaneswar Club between 3.40 pm and 4.20 pm.

Similarly, commuters from Rasulgarh and Khandagiri side have been advised to take the flyover (NH-16) instead of the service roads during 4.20 pm and 5.20 pm when the Prime Minister will cross Jaydev Vihar Square.

The traffic movement will be affected from 4.15 pm to 5.15 pm between Kalinga Hospital Chowk and Jaydev Vihar Square. The commuters will have to opt Acharya Vihar-Sainik School-Kalinga Hospital Square route, a Commissionerate Police release stated.
