BHUBANESWAR: IN a bid to make the second edition of ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave-2018 a roaring success, the State Government on Tuesday decided to organise road shows at major metropolis of the country ahead of the event to reach-out to investors.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the oversight committee held here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi. It has been decided that road shows will be organised in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune to attract investors to Odisha. Similar investor outreach activities will also be organised with international business partner countries and agencies.

The objectives of the conclave are to showcase manufacturing ecosystem in Odisha, highlight investment opportunities and elicit investment intentions from corporate houses. The four-day long activities will include 13 key events like partner country seminars, ambassador’s meet, sector specific round tables, coastal marathon, exhibition, exposure, networking, plenary sessions and sectoral sessions.

Stalls of large companies operating in Odisha in different sectors like steel, aluminum, infrastructure, food processing, IT, textiles, petrochemicals and power will be set up showcasing newly emerging investment opportunities in their respective sectors. There will be 9 major sectoral sessions with specific investment proposals. Prospective investors from USA, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia Germany, Switzerland and many other countries are likely to participate in the conclave, said Principal Secretary Industries Sanjeev Chopra.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced that the biennial event, a stepping stone towards realising the states Vision 2025, will be held from November 11 to 15.

The proposed investors meeting will be organised in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII),  various industry associations and business chambers. Potential investors and business leaders from India and abroad would participate in the event, Chopra said. The maiden Make in Odisha Conclave held here in December 2016 had attracted investment intents to the tune of a staggering `2.03 lakh crore.

The Chief Secretary directed departments concerned to keep a blue print of possible investment proposals ready for sharing with investors and make the entire event outcome oriented. Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan advised to tie up the event with other business and cultural activities for making the event lively and vibrant.
