BHUBANESWAR: The Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday replaced the Regional Officer for Bhubaneswar Region amidst protest against alleged discrepancies in evaluation of Class XII answer sheets. In a press release, the CBSE revealed that a new RO has been appointed for Bhubaneswar Region which caters to three states - Odisha, West Bengal and Chattisgarh.
“A new In-charge regional officer has been deputed at the board’s office in Bhubaneswar. In addition, two senior most officers have been sent from Delhi to interact and address the genuine concerns of the public in the best possible manner within the established procedures and guidelines of the Board,” the release stated.
Around 2,000 students have been sitting on a strike before the CBSE Regional Office in the City since publication of the Class XII results on May 28. While majority of results were withheld on the day of publication of results, most of the students secured single digit marks and failed in many subjects when the results were out next day.
The protesters under the banner of Odisha Abhibhaka Manch have launched a protest against the results demanding re-evaluation of the answer sheets. Around 170 students have moved the Orissa High Court on this issue following which the HC ordered the Central Board to re-evaluate their papers.
