BHUBANESWAR: State’s bomb disposal squad personnel would undergo further training to enhance their skills at a specialised training centre. “Special Security battalion and Strategic Tactical Unit personnel had undertaken training at National Security Guard (NSG) camp in Manesar. The bomb disposal squad may be sent to Manesar in Haryana or a similar training centre,” Odisha DGP RP Sharma said while addressing a joint meeting with NSG Deputy Commandant Amit Kumar.

The DGP made the point while interacting with NSG personnel who were in the Capital City as part of their motorcycle expedition campaign against terrorism.“The NSG personnel are familiarising themselves with the State and have recommended certain suggestions from us,” the DGP said.Also speaking at the function, NSG Deputy Commandant said “The citizens are first responders, they should immediately inform the nearby force if they find anything suspicious in their locality.”

“During the campaign, we are interacting with students, youths, professionals and other citizens. Fight against terrorism is a collective responsibility,” Kumar added. An interactive sessions with students of KIIT and KISS is scheduled on Monday.About 32 NSG personnel including, 20 riders and 12 supporting team members, kick-started the campaign from their camp in Manesar on September 7. They have covered a distance of over 5,500 kms and have visited Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Satara, Belgaum, Chitradurga, Krishnagiri, Chennai, Nellore, Guntur, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam. They would visit Balasore in Odisha, Kolkata, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh before concluding the 7,500 km campaign at their base on October 16, which coincides with NSG Raising Day.
Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania, Additional DG Satyajit Mohanty, Additional CP PS Ranpise, IG of Police (Operations) RP Koche and DCP (headquarters) Anupama James were also present.
